Why people move to the CSRA
Augusta sits on the Savannah River, on the Georgia and South Carolina line. People move here for Fort Gordon, the growing cyber and medical sectors, the Masters, and a cost of living well below the big metros, with river and lake life a short drive away. Whether you are relocating for the post, a job, or a lower cost of living, this guide is your starting point. Born and raised in Augusta, I help families move here from all over the country, a lot of them buying before they ever set foot in the area.
CHOOSING YOUR AREA
Evans: amenities, parks, and newer neighborhoods, popular with move-up families.
Martinez: established and central, with an easy commute in most directions.
Grovetown: newer construction and the closest commute to Fort Gordon.
Harlem: a small-town feel on the county's west side, often more home for the money.
Appling: rural and lakeside near Clarks Hill, with larger lots and higher-end homes.
Summerville: historic "the Hill," walkable, near the medical district.
North Augusta (SC): across the river, with South Carolina taxes and a revitalized riverfront.
Aiken (SC): horse country, a historic downtown, and a distinct South Carolina feel.
PCSing to Fort Gordon?
Military families are a big part of who moves to the CSRA. My Fort Gordon guide covers where families live, the commute to each gate, buying vs. renting, and how to buy from your current base.
Buying from another state
Plenty of my clients buy here without flying in first. Here is how I make it safe:
1. We set your must-haves and budget, and I set up a live search so you only see homes that fit.
2. I tour homes for you on live video and give you the honest read, including what the photos hide.
3. Local eyes on the home and the street, at more than one time of day.
4. A real inspection and the right contract terms protect you before you are ever committed.
